Ruth Plummer was not only a professional colleague of utmost integrity--she was also, to put it mildly, a loving friend and mentor. All of us who knew her are grateful that she was an important part of our lives, and we will carry in our hearts many happy memories of this extraordinary lady and her special warmth, empathy, and sense of humor.

She was associated with Artist Recitals since 1970, first as Executive Director and then as Artists' Representative. Artists on her roster have played organ, piano, and harpsichord recitals throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. They have also participated in festivals, performed with orchestras and other ensembles, and presented workshops and lectures.

Ruth Plummer was organist at Wilshire United Methodist Church in Los Angeles for 27 years. During this period of time, she was the concert series coordinator and was active in publicizing the Music at Wilshire series. She was organist at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Burbank, CA from 1988 until retiring in January 2002. She studied organ with Clarence Mader, Lowell Enoch, and Lloyd Holzgraf. She began her publicity career as Publicity Chair for the 1962 National Convention of the American Guild of Organists which was held in the Los Angeles area. She served as Dean of the Pasadena AGO chapter and was Publicity Chair of that chapter for many years. She was then Publicity Co-Chair of the Los Angeles chapter, which is now combined with the Pasadena chapter.
